Walk all around the abandoned ghost town of Sandima. Located in the hills behind Yalikavak, this was once a bustling village which was abandoned as the local population migrated seaward. Many of the houses remain standing and can be explored. An excellent setting for a picnic. An artists' studio and coffee/wine house are very well integrated into the village and the proprieter is happy to share his knowledge |
Explore Icmeler just a couple of kilometers from Bodrum and home to the largest and most sophisticated wooden boatbuilding center in the world. There are over a dozen boatyards and projects here to explore. When asked if he built according to naval architectural plans, one of Bodrum's leading gulet builder's laughed and famously replied `First I build the boat, then we create the plan.` |
